CSPs: Tree stem reference list for the Comparative Study Sites

Dataset Abstract

Stem identifiers (stemID), tag numbers, and species names for stems found in the CSPs. Includes the subplot the stem is located in for most of the stems (compare dataset on subplot location "Subplot naming conventions... ", http://china.befdata.biow.uni-leipzig.de/datasets/218 ). Stem identifiers do not always have a matching tag number, since the identifiers were not changed when during second or third reading in the field the tag numbers on the trees were corrected. There are sometimes several stems per tag number. To reference individual stems, use stem IDs.

Dataset Design

Per metal tag there may be one to many stems. Stem IDs were taken as is, even if in later field periods we realized that tag numbers had to be corrected.

Spatial Extent

Comparative Study sites, BEF China Experiment, Gutianshan, China

Temporal Extent

This version of the file is based on the 2008 to 2010 tree stems of sp1

Taxonomic Extent

Tree species names as in the reference list for tree species.

Data columns available in the raw data part of this dataset

stemID
ID of each stem, composed of the Plot number, tag identifier and stem number. The middle part is the silver Id, which was not unique in some cases, so that letters were added. Since multistem trees were only tagged once, they have a number added.; Datagroup description: Tree identifier for trees in the comparative study sites (CSP plus Silver ID)

CSP
Comparative Study Plot. Reasearch plots of the Biodiversity - Ecosystem functioning experiment (BEF-China). Comparative Study Plots (CSP) in the Gutianshan Nature Reserve, having a size of 30x30m^2, measured on the ground.
