Dataset Abstract

The soil microbial community lipids data from unlabeled NILEx 2012, data is only analyzed through samples taken from the 3rd time point (July, 2012).
In this datasheet, we only have one time point (i.e. timepoint 3) of the whole unlabeled nilex time steps. And for this time point, we havested 22 mesocosms in unlabelled nilex block 1 and block 2, as well as the 22 back up mesocosms in block 1 and 2.

Dataset Design

Sampling process was cooperating with leaf litter decomposition group. The soil beneath the litter laid was taken by soil core (0-10cm soil depth) directly after the leaf litter decomposition group collected the litter residues from the designated mesocosms. Soil were then sieved with 2mm mesh and kept cool before stored in the freezer and fridge.

Spatial Extent

NILEx field site, near site B, Xingangshan

Temporal Extent

Samples were taken in 2012 July, and then were freeze dried in the field lab and transported back to Halle. PLFA was done in 2014 in UFZ lab.

Taxonomic Extent

bacterial or fungal communities based on lipid indicators, the fungal to bacterial ratio, or total microbial biomass (lipid biomass). See column descriptions for more detail about individual lipid indicators.

Data Analysis

Microbial biomass: all lipids less than 20 carbons in length were summed to give the total biomass. Lipids were otherwise used according to specific microbial indicator groups and either the abundance (nmol lipid g dry wt-1) or in relative abundance (abundance divided by total lipid biomass).
